A Rich History in Wewahitchka, A Strong Future Ahead
Nestled inland along Highway 71, Wewahitchka — or “Wewa” as locals call it — sits between Tallahassee and Panama City, just north of Port St. Joe and south of I-10. Its name, meaning “water eyes” in the language of the Creek people, reflects the many lakes, rivers, and waterways that define the area.

A Community Rooted in Nature
Wewahitchka offers the best of small-town living — a blend of rural charm, outdoor adventure, and a welcoming community spirit. Life here moves at a slower pace, giving both residents and visitors the chance to enjoy the simple pleasures and reconnect with nature.

Natural Treasures
The town’s identity is deeply tied to its natural resources. Known for fertile farmland, abundant timber, and world-class freshwater fishing, Wewa is home to the famous Dead Lakes — an 80-square-mile ecosystem created when a cypress swamp was flooded. With its hauntingly beautiful cypress stumps and diverse wildlife, the Dead Lakes offer some of the finest freshwater fishing in the country and a one-of-a-kind setting for outdoor recreation.

Carrying the Spirit Forward
At Southern Site Worx, we’re proud to serve the Wewahitchka community with excavation, land clearing, site development, demolition, and tractor services. Just as Wewa’s history is rooted in strength and its connection to the land, our mission is to build on that foundation — helping homeowners, contractors, and businesses shape the future while preserving the character of this special place.

From the ground up, we’re helping Wewahitchka grow stronger every day.
